Impact
New Orleans Outreach directly enriches children’s education.
Last school year, 2,101 students benefited from volunteers and other partners serving as teacher assistants, tutors, mentors, job-site hosts, afterschool instructors, and special workshop leaders at our seven partner school sites. In addition, 620 students benefited from high-quality, free summer school/camp programs at five sites. Outreach coordinated the services of 2,149 volunteers and paid partners, who provided 68,104 hours of skilled help, an extraordinary gift of human capital to our city’s children and their schools.
New Orleans Outreach builds the capacity of schools to educate children effectively.
Outreach improves schools by bringing direct help into the classroom to reduce student/teacher ratios, creating afterschool programs, and providing a range of other programming for students through community partnerships with more than 40 outside organizations.
New Orleans Outreach increases support for, and involvement in, public education.
Our volunteers and partner organizations develop relationships with students, teachers, and their schools and become more committed to improving public education. Outreach volunteers and partner organizations contributed more than 50,000 hours of service to children in seven school sites during the ’08-09 school year and summer.
